Over the course of the past two weeks I have managed to do a fine job of falling off of the proverbial wagon once again. A voice in my head said “Screw It, it’s the holidays.” and I listened to it like an obliviously foolish…fool. Didn’t eat right at all, didn’t work out, didn’t go on tumblr, pretty much switched off all the inhibitions I have built up towards an unhealthy lifestyle. However, my one saving grace is that I have been living healthier for so long now that this short vacation I took from a healthy lifestyle has felt more foreign than anything.
Now that I am back in to the groove of a normal work week and life is getting back to normal I don’t want to keep eating Reese’s peanut butter cup cheesecake, fried chicken, or anything like it. The desire to eat right and get back to the box is very much still alive in me and I know it is going to feel good to get back on track. I am fairly certain that the guys at my CrossFit box probably think I am dead, haha.
I hope you all had an awesome Christmas and holidays in my absence. I had a really wonderful Christmas myself, got a number of great gifts (including a Kindle Fire, woot!). However, my favorite part was the giving this year, I really went all out and tried to give my family the best Christmas I could. This year has been pretty rough on us what with my mom having surgery to get rid of cancer and problems with my Dad’s job. So I wanted to try and show them how much they all meant to me.
I gave my Dad a “12-Lap NASCAR Racing Experience” where he gets to drive around a real Nascar Race Track in a real Nascar car. He has been a big Nascar fan for a long time and I knew this was something on his bucket list, so it was great to help make it happen.
For my Mom I got her a 90min Massage, Body Wrap, and Facial at a local Spa here in town. I figured after all she had been through with the surgery and recovery, it would do her a lot of good to go somewhere and let herself be pampered.
For my Sister, her big gift was an iPod nano. After she lost her first iPod she has been kind of lost without her music (being a music major) so she was happy to get a new one, haha.
Last but not least, I managed to snag a 7 Nights and Days stay at a resort of their choosing through Groupon.com which really took them by surprise. I had a big elaborate scavenger hunt laid out in the house with clues to what the gift was and they had to go around and collect them until they figured it out. It was a lot of fun and not a Christmas I will soon forget.
That’s all for now. :0)
